Adrianne Li , Aya Handcrafted
Adrianne Li is a leisure artist who loves making things. She attempted to knit a jointed bear in 2006 and was introduced to bear-making when a dear friend guided her with a kit three years later – Timothy was born on 20 January 2009.
Adrianne went on to make many more bears after Oliver (the knitted proto-type) and Timothy, but had to take a break for some years. The history and traditions of bear-making continued to fascinate her and she returned to the sloth in 2019.
As an artist with chronic conditions, Adrianne finds bear-making therapeutic and healing. She dreams of creating more handcrafted bears and critters, and bringing different forms of crafts together in her pieces.
