Maria Filatova-Chan , Cute & Craft

Maria Filatova-Chan is Estonian Art teacher, who is living, working and creating at the moment in Singapore. As an open-minded person, she is very curious about everything new and fun.

She knows how to draw; paint; sew; work with clay; needle felt; embroider; and, create with beads.  Maria loves to mix and match all of that knowledge in her art projects. That allows her to be very creative with her furry (and other) creations.

In 2014, besides her teaching job, she created Cute and Craft and started to work on commission works with felt, embroidery and beads. Later she moved to sewing; patch work;  needle felting, and painting with coffee. The last one became so popular that Maria began running painting workshops for all ages.

In 2017 Maria visited a craft exhibition in Singapore where she met Teddy Bear maker, Wayne Lim. Since then she is working on how to express herself by mixing different materials and mediums in order to create very artistic specific creatures. She works in mixed mediums. Beads and embroidery are her favorite ones. Most of Maria’s critters do not follow a pattern.  That’s why they are ‘one of a kind’ creations with special looks and characters.

She hopes that all of them will be able to find a loving family and home.
