Naomi Wivell , Bearly Bears

Naomi Wivell has been creating miniature, mohair and alpaca hand-sewn teddy bears under the name Bearly Bears since 1996. She started off creating small and tiny teddy bears which fit in the palm of her hand (‘barely’ bears) but has evolved her patterns over the years to include a variety of sizes.

Working from her home in Melbourne, Australia, Naomi prefers to create traditional, older style bears and they often feature a prominent back, longer arms, a longer snout and larger feet. Each bear is unique while clearly belonging to the same family. Recently, Naomi has been creating bunnies of all sizes, and has ideas in mind for other creatures too.

Naomi uses mohair and alpaca for the large bears, and mini bear fabric for the smaller ones. The bears are all hand-stitched and then filled with Australian merino wool.
